Three 26-point builds

Allocations checked against tiers, ranks and prerequisites in the beta dataset from Oct 8, 2026. Support and defensive options have specific roles; they aren't equal in duel damage.

Beast Mastery with crit · 21/5/0

First pet-based build to test in duels and the open world: sustained damage and Intimidation CC.

Beast Mastery: Endurance Training 5/5; Deadly Aspects 3/5; Focused Fire 2/2; Improved Revive Pet 2/2; Bestial Swiftness 1/1; Unleashed Fury 5/5; Summon Hawk 1/1; Improved Mend Pet 1/2; Intimidation 1/1.

Marksmanship: Lethal Attacks 5/5.

No Bestial Wrath. Don't assume your pet is immune to Fear or CC.

Marksmanship / Scatter · 5/21/0

Compare range and CC; Scatter helps set up repositioning or a trap.

Beast Mastery: Endurance Training 5/5.

Marksmanship: Hawk Eye 3/3; Lethal Attacks 5/5; Careful Aim 5/5; Efficiency 1/5; Improved Concussive Shot 1/5; Mortal Shots 4/5; Trueshot Aura 1/1; Scatter Shot 1/1.

The build keeps a pet and doesn't take Lone Wolf. It doesn't include the 31-point Sniper Shot talent.

Survival control · 0/0/26

Alternative for close-range pressure, traps and CC in BGs or the open world.

Survival: Improved Tracking 5/5; Deflection 5/5; Survivalist 5/5; Improved Wing Clip 3/3; Clever Traps 2/2; Deterrence 1/1; Counterattack 1/1; Survival Tactics 2/2; Strider Kick 1/1; Resourcefulness 1/2.

Not a build with every ranged damage talent. Counterattack and Strider Kick have requirements; check their tooltips.

17 copyable macros

Each macro labels its keys: Shift = your focus, mouseover = the unit under your cursor, Alt = yourself. The focus macro and other shared macros are in the macro guide, along with instructions for creating them.

Recall pet

Protect it or avoid breaking CC. Doesn't remove its existing DoTs.

Pet

/petfollow
Pet attack

Normal: your target or mouseover enemy; respect tournament opener rules.

Mouseover: enemyPet

/petattack [@mouseover,harm,nodead][harm,nodead]
Concussive Shot

Useful for keeping distance; requires a valid bow/weapon, range and target.

/cast [mod:shift,@focus,harm,nodead][nomod,@mouseover,harm,nodead][nomod,harm,nodead] Scatter Shot
Intimidation

Requires the Beast Mastery talent and a valid pet. Use it deliberately; check in the client when the stun applies.

#showtooltip Intimidation
/cast [harm,nodead] Intimidation
Aimed Shot

Listed in the Forever spellbook; consider cast time and incoming pressure.

Shift: focusMouseover: enemy

#showtooltip Aimed Shot

Arcane Shot

Doesn't combine it with your interrupt or trap; you choose the damage window.

Shift: focusMouseover: enemy

#showtooltip Arcane Shot
/cast [mod:shift,@focus,harm,nodead][nomod,@mouseover,harm,nodead][nomod,harm,nodead] Arcane Shot
Serpent Sting

Don't apply it to an enemy you want to keep trapped or under damage-breakable CC.

Stop shooting to CC

Stops your character's attacks. Also recall your pet when needed; doesn't remove existing Stings.

/stopattack
Freezing Trap

Stops shooting and recalls your pet before trying to place the trap. Doesn't place traps at range or bypass the client's combat restrictions.

Feign Death

Stops your attack and uses Feign Death. Doesn't guarantee removal of every DoT or bypass failures and restrictions.

Mend Pet without restarting

Protects the channel if this version uses one. Check how it works in the beta and whether you need another rank.

Doesn't interrupt channels

Wing Clip

A close-range tool to create distance. Still requires managing your opponent and their reach.

Deterrence

Requires the Survival talent. Check what it protects against in Forever; don't assume later versions' universal immunity.

Strider Kick

Requires the Survival talent. You don't get this interrupt by choosing Beast Mastery or Marksmanship.

Duels against all nine classes

First build to test in each matchup. Identify your opponent's spec, race and gear: class alone isn't enough. Practice several rounds before changing points; the suggestions below are tactical proposals, not measured results.

Against Warrior

First test: Beast Mastery with crit · 21/5/0.

Their threat is keeping you in melee. Watch Charge/Intercept, Hamstring and shield swaps; an available Berserker Rage can shut down a fear. A brief gap doesn't mean a safe reset.

Concussive Shot and range are your first plan. Save talent-based CC for their second gap closer; your pet and terrain should support the escape.

Against Paladin

First test: Beast Mastery with crit · 21/5/0.

Separate their immunity, CC and healing windows. Save an answer for the next heal after they've spent a defensive; don't pour all your offensive resources into an active immunity.

Wait for Freedom before spending all your slows. Don't keep shooting into immunity when you need to reposition.

Against Hunter

First test: Beast Mastery with crit · 21/5/0.

Range and pet are two separate threats. Watch slows and traps; CC'ing the pet doesn't remove the Hunter's damage. Avoid chasing in a straight line through prepared ground.

Watch both Hunter and pet. Recall yours if it's losing health outside your range, and use cover in the open world.

Against Rogue

First test: Beast Mastery with crit · 21/5/0.

The opener can chain CC; manage your CC break and defensives to survive the dangerous stretch. DoTs make resets harder, but can also break your own CC if applied carelessly.

Don't hand them a free opener. Once you regain control, create distance before committing to a long cast; check which trap you can use.

Against Priest

First test: Beast Mastery with crit · 21/5/0.

They can dispel and recover health while draining your mana. Choose which heal to interrupt instead of answering every cast; pressure without resources can play into their attrition plan.

Keep pet pressure and prepare CC for a heal. Scatter can break if your pet keeps attacking.

Against Shaman

First test: Beast Mastery with crit · 21/5/0.

Identify totems and shocks before committing. Don't hard-cast a long heal into an available Earth Shock without creating space or baiting the interrupt. Prioritize totems that actually interfere with your plan.

Remove the totem interfering with your CC, then return to the player. Don't spend all your range before deciding how to stop a heal.

Against Mage

First test: Beast Mastery with crit · 21/5/0.

Track Blink, roots and, if their build has them, Ice Block/Cold Snap. Don't commit your entire offense around one root when they can create another gap. Polymorph can give them recovery time.

Recalling and resending your pet helps against freezes or CC. Don't assume Bestial Wrath: this build doesn't have it.

Against Warlock

First test: Beast Mastery with crit · 21/5/0.

Respect Fear, DoTs and demon utility. A Voidwalker, Succubus or Felhunter changes the plan; don't assume level 36 Spell Lock or that every build has Soul Link.

A pet exposed to Fear needs attention. Control the demon or Warlock depending on the window; avoid breaking Scatter with shots or pet attacks.

Against Druid

First test: Beast Mastery with crit · 21/5/0.

Expect shapeshifting, heals and mobility. Their current form reveals immediate options, not their whole build. Don't chase without resources while they recover; interrupting a heal in caster form can open a window.

Pressure them while healing and watch shapeshifts. Save resources for a second approach; don't chase beyond your comfortable range.

BGs and open world

In BGs, find safe firing lanes, protect healers with slows and watch your pet. In the open world, check ammo, pet food and surroundings before committing your escape tools.

In BGs, play objectives and coordinate CC with your team. Before spending a CC break, distinguish CC you must break from CC you can sit. In the open world, check terrain, allies and escape routes. Tournament rules don't automatically apply to these activities.

Gear and BiS reference

Compare ranged weapon, agility/attack power, health and hit. Pet gear and survival matter in Beast Mastery. Don't equate a raid list with the best duel setup.

There's no universal duel BiS list here: it changes with build, opponents and restrictions. The linked guide helps compare level 30 mechanics and gear; its damage focus doesn't automatically determine the best PvP setup.

What macros improve

Focus separates CC from damage; petpassive/petfollow recalls an exposed pet. Melee macros are escape tools, and traps remain manual decisions.

Keep your distance, manage Concussive Shot and recall your pet if it's about to die or attacking the wrong target. Scatter or Intimidation, if you have them, create space; don't improvise a trap while ignoring its requirements.

Sources and beta checks

Calculator data generated on Oct 8, 2026. Later hotfixes may change requirements or effects. The 26-point builds and macros up to 255 characters have been checked; these macros haven't been run in the client.

Before competing: test range, normal target, focus, mouseover, modifiers, learned ranks and required talents. Check each ability's current tooltip and confirm restrictions with the organizers.
