26 points: 21 from leveling and 5 extra from Legacy. English client, English explanations. Builds to try in duels, BGs and the open world; not a win-rate ranking or every mathematically possible point allocation.

Three 26-point builds

Allocations checked against tiers, ranks and prerequisites in the beta dataset from Oct 8, 2026. Support and defensive options have specific roles; they aren't equal in duel damage.

Retribution with Strength · 5/0/21

First build to test in duels and the open world: weapon damage, mobility and CC to set up a heal or damage window.

Holy: Divine Strength 5/5.

Retribution: Benediction 5/5; Deflection 1/5; Improved Judgement 2/2; Conviction 5/5; Sanctified Judgement 3/3; Seal of Command 1/1; Pursuit of Justice 2/2; Sacred Arbiter 1/1; Repentance 1/1.

No 31-point abilities. Damage can break Repentance; don't automatically combine it with attacks.

Holy / Holy Shock · 26/0/0

First support and healing option to compare in BGs; allows a damage/healing variant with Holy Shock.

Holy: Divine Intellect 5/5; Healing Light 3/3; Spiritual Focus 2/2; Unyielding Faith 2/2; Reverence 3/3; Purifying Power 2/2; Illumination 3/5; Divine Favor 1/1; Holy Shock 1/1; Divine Precision 3/3; Holy Power 1/5.

Doesn't make a healing build a duel winner. Prioritize mana, health and healing decisions; Holy Power is only 1/5.

Protection / control · 0/26/0

Defensive shield niche: protect allies and compare responses to physical pressure.

Protection: Toughness 5/5; Redoubt 5/5; Precision 3/3; Guardian's Favor 2/2; Sacred Duty 2/2; Shield Specialization 3/3; One-Handed Weapon Specialization 3/3; Improved Hammer of Justice 1/3; Templar's Bulwark 1/1; Reckoning 1/5.

Loses Repentance and Holy Shock. Don't confuse Templar's Bulwark with final-tier Holy Shield.

16 copyable macros

Each macro labels its keys: Shift = your focus, mouseover = the unit under your cursor, Alt = yourself. The focus macro and other shared macros are in the macro guide, along with instructions for creating them.

Flash of Light on an ally or yourself

Can be interrupted; mouseover avoids selecting your teammate first.

Mouseover: ally or unitAlt: self

Blessing of Freedom

Doesn't remove every CC. Decide who needs mobility before using it.

Purify

For its valid debuff types. Don't replace it with Cleanse at 30: Cleanse is listed at 42.

Divine Favor

Requires the Holy talent. Kept separate from the heal so you choose which cast benefits.

Duels against all nine classes

First build to test in each matchup. Identify your opponent's spec, race and gear: class alone isn't enough. Practice several rounds before changing points; the suggestions below are tactical proposals, not measured results.

Against Warrior

First test: Retribution with Strength · 5/0/21.

Their threat is keeping you in melee. Watch Charge/Intercept, Hamstring and shield swaps; an available Berserker Rage can shut down a fear. A brief gap doesn't mean a safe reset.

Freedom gives breathing room against slows; Hammer of Justice can set up a heal or offense. Compare Protection as a defensive variant.

Against Paladin

First test: Retribution with Strength · 5/0/21.

Separate their immunity, CC and healing windows. Save an answer for the next heal after they've spent a defensive; don't pour all your offensive resources into an active immunity.

Manage mana and stagger CC to force defensives. The duel may run long; Retribution is the first offensive test.

Against Hunter

First test: Retribution with Strength · 5/0/21.

Range and pet are two separate threats. Watch slows and traps; CC'ing the pet doesn't remove the Hunter's damage. Avoid chasing in a straight line through prepared ground.

Freedom to close in during a useful window, then CC on contact. Don't chase the pet while the Hunter free-casts shots.

Against Rogue

First test: Retribution with Strength · 5/0/21.

The opener can chain CC; manage your CC break and defensives to survive the dangerous stretch. DoTs make resets harder, but can also break your own CC if applied carelessly.

Protection can buy time against physical damage; check its attack restrictions. CC and heal before resuming pressure.

Against Priest

First test: Retribution with Strength · 5/0/21.

They can dispel and recover health while draining your mana. Choose which heal to interrupt instead of answering every cast; pressure without resources can play into their attrition plan.

Repentance can set up a heal or approach if no damage will break it. Remember they can dispel buffs.

Against Shaman

First test: Retribution with Strength · 5/0/21.

Identify totems and shocks before committing. Don't hard-cast a long heal into an available Earth Shock without creating space or baiting the interrupt. Prioritize totems that actually interfere with your plan.

Purge can remove your buffs. Don't rely on a blessing lasting to survive; bait the shock before a long heal.

Against Mage

First test: Retribution with Strength · 5/0/21.

Track Blink, roots and, if their build has them, Ice Block/Cold Snap. Don't commit your entire offense around one root when they can create another gap. Polymorph can give them recovery time.

Choose when to use Freedom so you can capitalize on it. Don't waste Hammer of Justice or Repentance into a defense that blocks them.

Against Warlock

First test: Retribution with Strength · 5/0/21.

Respect Fear, DoTs and demon utility. A Voidwalker, Succubus or Felhunter changes the plan; don't assume level 36 Spell Lock or that every build has Soul Link.

Save resources to recover under DoTs. Repentance isn't free CC if a Seal or pending damage breaks it.

Against Druid

First test: Retribution with Strength · 5/0/21.

Expect shapeshifting, heals and mobility. Their current form reveals immediate options, not their whole build. Don't chase without resources while they recover; interrupting a heal in caster form can open a window.

Look for a CC window when they're exposed to your pressure. Don't empty your mana chasing forms; heal during the pause.

BGs and open world

In BGs, Holy has a clear healing role; Retribution pressures and protects with blessings. In the open world, save mana to survive and don't spend every defensive on one opener.

In BGs, play objectives and coordinate CC with your team. Before spending a CC break, distinguish CC you must break from CC you can sit. In the open world, check terrain, allies and escape routes. Tournament rules don't automatically apply to these activities.

Gear and BiS reference

Retribution needs a weapon and strength with enough health. Holy needs mana, intellect and healing gear. Protection compares shields and survival; not a general damage recommendation.

There's no universal duel BiS list here: it changes with build, opponents and restrictions. The linked guide helps compare level 30 mechanics and gear; its damage focus doesn't automatically determine the best PvP setup.

What macros improve

Mouseover heals and blessings preserve your offensive target. Alt directs help to yourself; separate Freedom and Protection buttons let you choose the tool you need.

With Retribution, look for contact windows after your opponent's slows and CC. Keep Hammer of Justice and Repentance separate: one sets up damage, the other can buy a heal if it stays unbroken.
