This guide is also designed for playing with other enemies and allies around. It keeps the level 30, 26-point budget: the following decisions are practice suggestions, rather than a proven ranking. If you level up or your budget changes, review talents, ranks and abilities; do not automatically add abilities excluded at level 30.
The Forever Open rules change often: always check the official rules. They do not apply to BGs or world PvP.
| Situation | Build to test | Plan and macros |
|---|
| Solo world PvP; survive unexpected encounters | B1, compared with B2 | Protect your demon and Soul Link; C1, D1 and D2. C3 or C24 for CC while repositioning. B1 provides instant Corruption; B2 requires more casting time. |
| BGs; attrition and pressure on multiple enemies | B6, or B7 if you prefer its stamina investment | C5, C6 and A3 let you apply damage with mouseover without switching targets. Choose whom to control before spreading DoTs; do not put damage on the target your team wants to keep CC'd. |
| BGs or groups; survive and support with your demon | B1 | Use Felhunter to practice C25 on an ally and C12 to purge or cleanse yourself. Keep C1 to pull it out of pressure. Soul Link requires watching both your position and your demon's. |
| A group with teammates who create casting windows | B9; compare B10 based on testing | Concentrate damage with Immolate, Conflagrate and Shadowburn when an opportunity appears. C24 can control a second enemy. Do not copy the burst plan if your position prevents finishing casts. |
With multiple targets: set the enemy you want to CC as your focus with C4. Check your focus before pressing Shift. Mouseover can be a character or a valid frame; without one, check each macro's fallback. Do not spread damage on autopilot: help kill your group's chosen target and protect the teammate under pressure.
With teammates: C25 is dedicated to dispelling allies or yourself. C12 also allows purging enemies, and C21 attempts to cleanse your demon. All three spend the same pet ability: the macro does not create independent uses or cooldowns. Choosing who receives Devour is a gameplay decision, rather than automation.
CC and survival: C3/C24, C13 and C14 offer different recipients depending on what you want to control. Seduction requires special care around DoTs and pet damage. C18 stops your character's action, and C1 recalls your demon, but neither removes periodic damage already applied. C20 is for a bandage window, and C23 for the stone: incoming damage and item restrictions still apply.
Undead in world PvP: R1 breaks Charm, Fear or Sleep when needed; it does not protect against the next CC. R5 can help after a fight with a valid corpse and a safe position. Do not confuse Cannibalize with an instant heal: channeling means weighing the risk of another fight. Passives work without a button.
Between fights: prepare shards with C22 when appropriate, create your stone with C15, replace your demon and armor, and check your grimoires. Life Tap helps manage mana, but decide how much health you can spend before exposing yourself again. Drain Life and Drain Mana do not replace moving to safety.
First buttons to learn: C1/C2, C3 or C24, C4, C5/C6, C12 or C25 with a Felhunter, C20/C23 and R1. Add your build's tools afterwards. You do not need to learn 41 buttons at once: several blocks are alternatives for the same action or depend on talents and items you may not use.
